Below are suggested warm
tone colorways,
including creams and browns.
Estimates are
based on the base yarn as wool, however, cotton or rayon blends, and mohair or
even alpaca blends are equally nice, though may cost considerably more. Mohair effects the look of the
blankets, making it a fuzzier feel and less defined colors. All tied yarns
will be all available materials, including synthetics, for that is how you get
your sparkle!
In terms of sparkle and
eyelash, custom orders can specify no eyelash or no obvious metallics.
Allergies can also be
worked with, though it may drive the price up depending on the allergy.
Babies blankets are done in materials that are not scratchy for babies skin.
Custom sizes can be
ordered in any of these colors. Custom sizes can generally be
completed with an 8-12 week delivery date:
This blanket reminds me of the people of
Eastern Washington State, the tone of the personalities I met there. This
one happens to be a maroon/cranberry colored cotton base, with tones of the
lakes, the wildflowers and grasses, and the forests -- greens, pinks, touches
of bright oranges and reds, turquoise, goldenrod.

Tibetan |
Tibetan Buddhism is a colorful
religion, and this blanket celebrates the glorious colors of the five Buddha
families! The base yarn is one of the traditional Tibetan colors, in this
case red with a yellow cotton thread, and complimenting yarns are turquoise,
grass green, yellow, red, blue, purple, metallic and eyelash! Wild! Gently
hand wash and air dry. (It is different than the Mexican Fiesta
because there is no black!)
When Katie first moved to
Oregon, she saw greens and grays. But after a few years, she began to see the
subtle and surprising beautiful
 colors
of the Oregon plant life in winter, and the sunrises and sunsets, which lit up
the sky with oranges and reds! This blanket celebrates those
colors. The base yarn is a taupe gray (a
brown-grey), with a riot of oranges,
reds, and pinks! Gently hand wash and air dry.
Note: This blanket has been done with
an Indian Red wool base, shown left, and a watermelon wool / cool grey cotton
base, shown left.
Inspired by Katie's mother's
love for the beach and the shells, this is a warm sandy-colored blanket with
surprising touches of pinks and purples and metallics. If you look closely,
just like the beach, you will find tiny threads of olives, reds, and blues.
The base yarn is sand-colored wool. Gently hand wash and air dry. Subtle
yet striking!

Cream on Cream on Cream |
The only monochromatic blanket Katie makes, this
is a blend of various cream yarns, with eyelash but no metallics.
Photos can't capture it -- it looks like a cream crocheted blanket -- but if
you love cream this is a subtle yet interesting blanket.
Katie grew up near Mexico; she loves the wild
colors of fiesta times! Wild
Mexican colors explode in this brilliant blanket! One of her most popular
combinations, the base yarn is a black wool. Purple, green, blue, red,
yellow and orange in both metallic and matte yarns, lots of eyelash, flashy
and fun! Gently hand wash and air dry.
(It is different than the Tibetan because of the black!)
This delicate blanket was
created for a friend who loved creams, white, and
 taupes.
Not one to do a boring blanket, Katie spiced it up with a mix of metallic yarns
in copper, gold and silver! No fringe. The colors photographed so differently in the two lights, that we
decided to show both - and both are accurate, when the light changes!
Note: This same palette with a cream wool
base and a bit less glitter, shown right -- SAME BLANKET, DIFFERENT LIGHTING.
